"Take your stand and get yourself ready!" - Jeremiah 46:14 NASB
Every direction you look, shockwaves are shaking the world. There is political uncertainty, economic turmoil, fierce cultural wars between competing worldviews, and persecution of Believers. But to those who know the Bible, none of these shockwaves should be a surprise.
The Bible makes it clear that the world will experience "perilous times" (2 Timothy 3:1) and be battered by storms and turbulence. It also warns that those who trust in the shifting sands of this world can easily sink. Even Believers can be caught up in turmoil and become victims of fear if we place our hope in earthly security and focus our attention on the world system.
Yet, as the people of God, we don't have to be caught by surprise. In fact, we can be prepared and ready for the days ahead. In His Word, God has told us what to expect and what to do, and He's given us His Spirit to guide and empower us.
As Believers in Jesus Christ, we're privileged to live for "a kingdom which cannot be shaken" (Hebrews 12:28). During the storms of life, we can find safety, and God promises to provide for our needs (Matthew 7:24-27, Matthew 6:33).
Today, do you feel ready for the challenges ahead in this uncertain world? Are you ready for "perilous times" and the coming of the Lord? Are you placing your trust in the unshakable Kingdom of God, or are you trusting in the "sand" of this world?
Make sure your lamp is "full of oil"--that you are filled with the Spirit and living according to God's Word. Don't allow your life to be ruled by fear or worry, but trust completely in God. Seek first His Kingdom. Do your part to spread the Gospel and impact lives for Christ.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You have a plan for my life and the world. Help me to be ready to face challenges ahead. Fill me anew with Your Holy Spirit. I trust in You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
